CASE 2026-0147 — OPERATION SHADOW PROTOCOL
FEDERAL BUREAU OF CYBER INVESTIGATION — INTERNAL AFFAIRS DIVISION
CLASSIFICATION: INTERNAL
AGENT: (you)
ASSIGNED BY: Office of the Director, E. Mercer
Overnight, an unauthorized party accessed the Bureau's mail relay.
Thousands of internal emails may have been copied. You are first on
the scene.
"Fresh eyes win old cases. Report directly to me."
— E. Mercer
You have one shift. A shell, a warrant drawer, field units, and
stubbornness. Follow the evidence. Serve the warrants. Trust no title.

WHAT YOU DO
Work real federal systems from a simulated terminal — no fake menus,
no point-and-click rails:
▸ Investigate servers with real commands — ls, cd, cat, grep, find,
sudo, ssh. Read logs like a forensic examiner and find the one
line that breaks the case open.
▸ Run the plates, pull the files — DMV lookups and NCIC criminal
records, from a white van to a Director with a classified flag.
▸ Evidence wins warrants — request search, arrest, or surveillance
warrants and transmit them to Judge Aldrich. No probable cause,
no signature. He tells you exactly what your affidavit lacks.
▸ Field units — dispatch patrol, surveillance, and tactical teams:
serve warrants, stake out shell companies, sweep hardware.
▸ Choose their fates — arrest, house arrest, or let them walk.
Every choice ripples into the evidence, the raid, and the ending.
▸ Stay invisible — some hosts log every keystroke. Surveillance
heat climbs while you work. Manage it, or the Director's office
reads your session.
▸ Race the transfer — the final act runs a live exfiltration
percentage in your prompt. At 100%, the evidence is gone for good.
One case. Five acts. One shift from 06:00 to midnight. Four ways to
point the finger — and a conspiracy that doesn't end when the credits
do.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
AN OPERATING SYSTEM, NOT A MENU
You play on an FBCI-issued workstation: BIOS boot, secure desktop,
taskbar with the case clock, toast notifications, and a notification
center. Optional CRT scanline mode included — this terminal fights
back when you're hacked, and the screen lets you know.
